Health & Safety at Road Works

Aim of this CSCS Health and Safety at Roadworks Course:

This Programme is designed for operatives who are required to work in the proximity of roadwork’s, in both rural and urban situations, so as to understand the risks to their own safety from passing traffic and the need to avoid creating dangers for road users. The training is mandatory under the safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006.

  • Excavation Safety
  • Plant & Equipment
  • Materials
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Multiple Choice Exam

 Course Duration:

1 Day

No of delegates:

Maximum of 20 participants

Prerequisites:  

All candidates must bring:

  • Solas Safe Pass
  • PPS Number
  • Participants must be aged 18 years or over

Certification:

On successful completion a CSCS Card and FETAC Certificate will be issued.

Location:

Your Venue Requirements:

CSCS Signing Lighting and Guarding

Aim:

The aim of the Signing, Lighting and Guarding course is to enables delegates to safely plan, organise, direct, control and manage the safe free flow of traffic through roadworks in  accordance with Chapter 8 Road Traffic Signs Manual, Department of the Environment.

CSCS Signing Lighting and Guarding Content:

  • Introduction to Traffic Management; traffic management layouts, devices & application
  • Legislation
  • Motorways & Dual Carriageways
  • Static & Semi Static operation
  • Requirements for the installation of Traffic Management
  • Traffic layout sheet as set per chapter 8 & “Guidance for Control & Management of Traffic @ Roadwork’s”
  • Install, maintain & remove signs & devices used on roadworks
  • Classroom Practical & Site Practical
  • Final day Classroom & on Site Practical

Course Duration:

3 Days

Maximum of 8 participants

Prerequisites:

  • Current Safe Pass Card
  • PPS Number
  • PPE Equipment

Participants must be aged 18 years or over

Certification:

On successful completion a CSCS ID Card and FETAC/QQI Certificate will be issued.

CSCS Location of Underground Services Training

Aim:

The aim of the Location of Underground course is to ensure that operators become competent in the safe use of Underground detection cable locator equipment.

CSCS Location of Underground Services Course Content:

  • Legislation
    Duties of designer, PSCS, Contractors, employer /employees
    Planning and procedures
    Safe systems and procedures, preparing to dig, installation service
    Cable avoidance tools, CAT & Genny Transmitter
    Searching for services, pinpointing services, clamping
    Exposure of Services
    Safe operation of Plant, Safe Digging, accidental contact, Safety in Excavations
    Emergency Situations: injuries, report accidents
    Module evaluate exercise

Course Duration:

2 Days

Maximum of 8 participants

Prerequisites:

All candidates must bring:

  • Current Safe Pass
  • PPS Number
  • PPE Equipment

Participants must be aged 18 years or over

Certification:

On successful completion of the Location of Underground Services course, a Solas CSCS Card and FETAC Certificate will be issued.

Mobile Access Tower

Title: Mobile Access Tower Operations

Aim:

This course is designed to give participants the skills, knowledge and attitude which will enable them to erect mobile access aluminium towers in a safe manner in accordance with manufacturers instructions and statutory requirements.

Mobile Access Tower Course Content:

  • Current Legislation
    Safety Legislation
    Safety when Working at Height
    Fall Protection
    An Introduction to Mobile Access Towers
    Understanding Dangerous Situations
    Following Manufacturers Instructions
    Erection and Dismantling Mobile Access Towers
  • Working on Mobile Tower’s Safely
    Examination and Assessment

 Assessment:

Theoretical and Practical examination

Course Duration:

1 or 2 Days depending on experience

No of delegates:

Maximum of 8 participants

Prerequisites:

All candidates must bring:

  • One Passport Photograph
  • Current Safe Pass Card
  • PPS Number
  • PPE (personal protective equipment), i.e. Hard Hat, High Visibility Vest, Steel Toe Capped Boots, Gloves
  • Candidate’s pack

Certification:

On successful completion of the Mobile Tower Assessment/Course, a FETAC Level 5 Certificate and Solas CSCS Card will be issued.
